What causes back pain?

Most back pain is personally generated. Over time tight muscles take the pelvis and then the bones above it out of alignment; ligaments, tendons and muscles are stretched beyond their pain threshold, discs herniate

What can I do to relieve back pain?

Get your skeleton back into better alignment with a flexibility training program that loosens off tight muscles attached to your pelvis and a strength training program that supports the skeleton while pushing, pulling and lifting

How do I know it my back pain is serious?

Whenever you sneeze of cough it feels like someone is ramming a red-hot poker into your lower back. This means the bones in your lower back are out of alignment and as a result you’ve herniated a disc.


  1. The problem has a cause, and it can be fixed – find the cause and treat it.
  2. Big problems come from minor issues that weren’t attended to. If it’s a big problem now, it probably started as a little problem that wasn’t recognised or dealt with early enough.
  3. The primary cause of the pain is likely to be a lack of fitness, a body lacking the general level of strength and flexibility needed to do what may appear to be a very simple and cushy job—sitting down, tapping a keyboard, rolling a mouse, pushing a pen, or hanging on to a steering wheel.
  4. The immediate cause of the pain is a skeleton that’s out of alignment. If you do the right strength and flexibility exercises, you should be able to straighten out the problem
  5. It’s a big ask to expect the body to get better by having someone do something for you: sooner or later, you have to do something for yourself – in your case, the proper stretching and strengthening exercises for your particular condition.
  6. Therapy—ice, heat, manipulation, massage, acupuncture, and Chinese poultice… speed up the rehab process but do not replace the strength and flexibility exercises you need to do for yourself.

In the meantime, stay highly tuned, and in a couple of months, your back, neck, and shoulders should feel a lot better.
